Just when i thought things couldnt get worse from the day before, they just did.

I got 4.3 for results this sem...my best ever since i came NUS..really fruitful and gratifying feeling considering that:

1) It was undoubtedly the busiest time of my Uni and entire life the past sem with all the MC commitments..
2) I scored A for both Singapore Foreign Policy and International Security! My 1st ever overall grade As in NUS..
3) I attended only 0 lectures for 2 modules, 2 lectures for 1 module, 3 lectures for 1 module, and 4 lectures for 1 module...
4) I managed to S my intro to e-commerce..
5) My insanely hardwork the 3 weeks before the exams paid off..including the hell week of PS essays where i worked non-stop for 24hrs on 2 occasions to rush my papers.

i ve always told myself this sem's results were crucial to me, coz it ll set the tone to how i ll pursue my honours..and to be able to achieve such grades despite the insanely heavy cca commitments gives me so much more confidence that i can possibly even do better when i step down, and have more time on my hands. Hope so ya...

Wanna thank some of my dear friends too..

riddy, for giving me so much guidance, and advice on all the PS modules..
bobsie, for the wonderful companionship during those crazy revision weeks..
diana baby, for always listening to my grunting and basically everything haha..
clement black, for selflessly always goin to ta pao stuff for us to eat..
rabbit, for popping by clubroom now and then in the night to make studying in school that much more enjoyable, and of coz, for always helping to wake me up!!! haha!
leon and chonghan, for borrowing of hist notes and endless discussion of which topics to spot haha..
alvin, what can i do without u man!!?? for loaning me the entire sem's worth of PS readings and notes to zap!!
jianwu, for the sensible and reliable PS tips we share! haha
dota and KOL gang, for providing endless entertainment and life in clubroom with KOL haha~
my dearest MC girls who took Intro to E-commerce tog, for providing wonderful feedback and notes as well!

and most importantly..dearest shuang er..for always being behind me in whatever i do and giving me so much moral support and strength..and for just being who you are.

yupz..so i guess examinations are just like a project..it is so important to help one another out as a team..even simple companionship, loaning of notes, discussion on tips and possible topics can make a great difference.

And i guess with this, it officially closes another chapter in my life..as i move towards being a year 3 senior in NUS Arts..and a brand new sem of hard work again..also happy and honoured to have gotten called up for an interview by a company last week..apparently juv works there, and passed the company my contact. So they rang me up, and asked me whether i would be interested in meeting them, to learn more about each other and their company. I guess the interview went pretty well, wow it was my 1st one actually...and i was busy typing my resume the night before..i figured even if i wasnt interested in joining the company, it is always good to go for the interview experience, and gain a greater insight into corporate life.

In the end the company called me up to go for their company social outing todae, haha tot it was interesting but i declined..but i accepted their invitation to attend their corporate meeting on mondae..where 200 of their employees and company strength wud be there..haha wah..sounds like AGM lydat..quite exciting..they also offered to keep in touch with me the next 2 years, so that after i graduate, i can opt to join them if i enjoy their workplace experience..

And 1 of the things u realize from joining MC in Uni life, which a lot of people dun see now, is how the experiences learned from being in MC, provides one with so much more soft skills and confidence in meeting people, more meat in yr resume, and going for a job interview. I had so much to say, and so much to share with the interviewers that they only had time to ask me 2 questions: 1) Tell us more about yourself. 2) You mentioned that u have surfed our company website, so could u tell us more about what u know bout our company?

The rest of the time, i was happily talking and talking to them, and ask them so many questions bout the company that they appreciated it..in the end, i thoroughly enjoyed the interview session..in fact, it didnt feel like an interview to me at all, but more like a sharing session...

And 1 thing i realize evidently was that in the private sector, grades and honours (or no honours) degree dun really matter much to them, becoz at the end of the dae, they will still send u to their training course to groom u, and everybody starts off basically at similiar levels. In the private sector, sales is really a big factor though. If u can do great sales, u ll really be highly valued and sought after, regardless of yr grades. That is why soft skills are really important, becoz any marketing person will tell u that soft skills make a key difference between closing a deal and going home empty-handed.

Yupz..just sharing some of my thoughts here..hope everyone s enjoying yr holidaes.. =)

TONS OF ADMIN STUFF.

Common (mis)conceptions are that Presidents only know how to arrow people. Nothing could be further from the truth, becoz presidents themselves kena tons of arrows themselves, just that it might not be known to others. And our arrows often come from very high above, which makes buying a shield very very unaffordable.

As a President, u are always, (not often or frequently) given bad news, which sometimes u have no choice but to keep them to yourself. Other times, u have to balance the need to suppress yr xianness in receiving the bad news, but yet potraying a calm and cheerful face in front of others. It is something which is not easy for me (and i guess most people) to come to terms with, but something which i have learnt to accept as a job hazard. Coz when i feel strongly or disturbed by some stuff, i dun hide these feelings from my face very well.

I have tons of admin stuff i need to settle. And lots of arrows. Phew. And i need to settle them quick.

And I still have some disturbing thoughts which i cant keep out of my mind. Damn.

On another note, i thought about the friends i have made in NUS Arts ever since Arts Camp 2004, and i wonder how life wud have been different if i havent met so many of these friends. Recent events such as Sining's chalet, dota outings and Swi Swi's bdae made me realize once again how great and fun-loving these friends are. I thought about how different the clubroom might be next sem after people such as Tim, Yaozhong, Peipei, kevin wee, sining, Riddy, Joey, Ivy, gracey graduated...sigh..will miss them. 1 day it ll be my turn, and i think i ll feel pretty sad in a way when that happens..

i also thought of another group of friends in the form of the ya-ya golfing sisterhood comprising of xiao tian tian, xiao swi swi, bian bian (bianca), marrrieee marrieee, xiao xian xian...who have brought countless joy and sunshine to me everytime i see them haha..u girls rock eh! Thankfully, these crazy people, of the same batch as me, ll still be around for e next 2 yrs..as well as some of the 25th and 26th..

Working part-time really makes me understand how school life is still the best and most memorable part of a person's life. :)

Lots of thoughts swirling thru my head now...

There are currently 3 people in my life now who are testing my patience.

1 is a lazy asshole. 1 is a big-mouth hypocritical back-stabber. And 1 is a foul-tempered crazy jerk full of pride.

All 3 have 1 thing in common: They fail to learn from their past stupid mistakes. Which makes me detest them even more.

To these 3 persons, take my warning.

Do not test my patience.

You wont like the consequences. Trust me.

It has been a most wonderful and fruitful week!

And to top it off, i scored a long range goal for my chinese high football mates yest in a friendly match! As a fullback you seldom score goals so that one yest was a real memorable one..We managed to hit on a counter-attack and string together a few passes outside the penalty box before yiming laid the ball off to me...and i whacked a 20 yards screamer into the top left hand corner of the goal, just enough to beat the full-stretched diving keeper. That made my dae and rounded off a great week lah! I screamed for joy after it went in, for it was the equalizer..but pity we lost 2-1 in the end though..haha..but its great to see all e boys back..But we were all damn unfit man esp after exams..so we decided to meet up weekly for the next few months for training and more matches..yeah man. :)

Also had a good MC meeting this week..plus rag preparations..arts camp meeting..fop meeting..watched The Sentinel and MI3...continued to work part time as well..yeah..been a wonderful week..

And this new week might possible be even more hectic (but fun!) phew..We ll be meeting 4 times every week to do Rag..there's also ning ning's chalet..going to dxo on wed to support my bartendar friend for the Mr Singapore peageant, he's Mr West Coast btw haha..can find Ines (my ex floor supervisor) as well. Really miss her and looking foward to see her as well man..My workplace just doesnt feel right after she switched to dxo..sigh.. thurs i have another function to attend..and soccer and work on weekends..

yeah, so it all adds up to another exciting and happening week ahead! :)

NUSS Dinner at Guild House was good...wow didnt know it actually has so many "hidden" facilities haha..yay now i m an nuss member! well..at least for a few months till i step down..

FASS Inaugural Alumni Dinner even better. Had the chance to engage in really interesting conversations with Prof Shih and Prof Tan Tai Yong, and my Nation-Building Lecturer Prof Albert Lau who sat on my left haha..was really a great dinner, and heart-warming to see so many former Arts students and graduates, from the 90s, 80s, 70s, 60s, and yes! Even the 50s!! I thought it was really generous of the alumni to raise quite a sum of money for this student development fund, intended to provide for the more needy Arts students now..After the dinner, everybody rushed back to watch the elections results...

I ve been following the Elections very very very closely..cant say much here though. Well, now that its over, time to move on..

Met up with han, peh, mao, and yes! Euken!! just now..Ken just reached singapore on fri onli...was really glad to meet and chat up with these old friends of mine! till then..oh well..all e best everyone..

tom the next phase of my MC term will begin. The route to FOP begins for me again....i ve no doubt it ll be rocky, tough (both physically and mentally), draining, emotional, filled with ups and downs, and yes..a whole new adventure with a whole new group of organizing team and friends...but i know come the end of Arts Bash 2, when u look back, everything would have been worth it...every drop of blood, sweat, and tear wud have been worth it.

i know, coz i have been there before, just like so many other seniors before me..Ridz..Steven..Diana..Sining..Beng...Jasmine..Rudy..

A whole new group of incoming freshies, and a whole new chunk of unforgettable memories..yup, and before the 26th realizes it, u guys and gals are yr 2 seniors liao =) yupz, thats how fast time flies in uni..and i m year 3 liao wah..hao3 kuai4 ah..

time to raise the game.

The road to FOP 2006 begins tom once again!!!!

THE END OF EXAMS AND A WONDERFUL FEW MONTHS TO LOOK FOWARD TO....

Life has been truly great and exciting for me since the exams ended. :) When i stepped out of the exam hall on tues after 3 papers in a dae (phew!), there were 3 things on my mind straightaway.

1) FOP
2) Time to train and shape up physically.
3) **** **** ** ***** **** ***

Yup, the past 48 hours of my freedom have been fully utilized, and i intend to keep it that way for this coming holidaes..i also have lots of upcoming dinners and functions to attend..Tom there's one at guild house for the nuss membership ceremony..Sat there ll be the inaugural Arts Reunion Dinner organized by the class of 79..i m really excited and honoured to be invited to this event, for i ll be sitting at Table 1 together with President of NUS Prof Shih, our Arts Dean Prof Tan Tai Yong, and Vice-Provost Prof Lily Kong among others..Really looking foward to it. And the fact that finally, there ll be a great chance and opportunity to build up ties with our very own Arts Alumni!

This has been 1 area where the faculty has been lacking. Bizad fac and their alumni have already been very active and established for some time. Thus, this inaugural dinner is most certainly a step in the right direction.

There's another function on the 18th of May where President Nathan would be the guest-of-honour. That is another exciting event as well.

Btw, paradigm's real happening now man! Haha, they have renovated, and came up with a canto pop night concept every tues..wah, it was a real eye-opener on tues night man! The thing with working in the nightlife and in a club is that you get to see all kinds of funny and wierd things..haha, wow, really expanded my horizons man.

Later meeting my army scouts brothers..yeah man..so long since we all met up together!

Yupz, all in all..lots of things to look foward to..lots of things to do..and as i have said before, GREAT TIMES LIE AHEAD!! :p

Happy holidaes to all my dear friends!
